In this digital age, why are people still printing dust-gathering manuals that are potentially out of date in a week’s time, and where much of the manual’s contents are not relevant to any particular staff person? Is it because they look good on the shelf? We think (actually we know) there’s a better way. How does this sound: Electronic manuals that are current to the nano-second, produced on demand so that only information relevant to the particular staff person is included Electronic task lists so that each staff person can know what they need to do each day, and where any reference information (e.g. the documented procedure for how to do the task) is available at the click of a button The ability to locate any document or electronic resource with simple keyword searches Example You have a new nurse starting next week. As the Business/Practice Manager, you generate the Nurse-specific version of the Induction Manual from your Standard Practice system and email it to them. But if your job involves management and administrative work and you need training in a software program, provided you have internet access and a telephone, no-one needs to travel – you don’t even need to make us coffee (which, let’s be honest, is sometimes not that good). For the last 2½ years we have been conducting presentations and providing training using web meetings wherever possible. Environmentally-friendly, convenient, easy to re-arrange if your day falls apart – it all just makes sense.
